Here’s a portion of Chris’ Essay…

How do I plan to utilize the ministry’s influence to help others?

"The youth body at St. Philip is a prime example that some of the kids in my community are trying to do the right thing, despite what society may say about the youth of today. Structured activities, purposeful instruction and leadership modeling are descriptive of the guidance I received by those that taught me early lessons of compassionate service and liturgical evangelism. My involvement and participation in youth ministries has helped me to defy AND deny African American male stereotypes. Because of the influence and impact of my early exposure to Sunday school, KUUMBA, Tribe of Judah, and other youth ministries, I will not become a statistic! I will conscientiously and continuously strive for excellence in all of my endeavors and I pledge to be a positive role model of distinction!!!"
