Founder/Choreographer
Our Friend & Brother

A Savannah, GA native, Randall was born to Mrs. Annie Smith and Mr. Frank Sutton on May 22, 1970. He atended Groves High School and graduated from Clark Atlanta University, where he received his first studies in dance.  Upon his return to Savannah, he fostered his love for teaching while working for EOA.  Eventually, he obtained a position teaching 3rd grade students at Hodge Elementary School.

Acknowledging his fascination with performing arts, Randall joined SANKOFA Dance Theatre and also became a member of the International Association of Black In Dance.  As his knowledge and training grew, God revealed to him the calling to combine his love of teaching and the arts.  Carrying over twelve (12) years of experience & training in dance, he founded KUUMBA Dance Ensemble fostering the ideal of an intimate spiritual walk with God through movement--liturgical dance.

In Novemer of 2006, Randall was laid to rest.  Although his earthly body is gone, Randall's heavenly light so shines; his legacy forever moving forward.  Because of his wonderful spirit and kind-hearted personality, he will always be remembered.  We ensure the continuance of his legacy by sowing seeds into the lives of future youth as mentors in the ministry of dance education.

We are grateful for the time God allowed us to sharewith His angel.  Forever in our thoughts, eternally in our hearts.

We come together to celebrate this wonderful gift remembering the legacy initiated by the talented and blessed Randall Sutton.  Founder of KUUMBA Dance Ensemble, Randal acknowledged his fascination with performing arts by fostering the ideal of an intimate spiritual walk with God through dance.  God revealed to him his calling to combine his love for teaching and the arts; understanding that the teacher doesn't teach. Relatively, the teacher offers stimulation and ways in which the student can educate their self.   At best, the teacher awakens a hunger and strength from within.
